Full Stack Web Developer (Interim)

Mediahuis is made by every employee within the company. As an international company, we are a young group with deep roots and a long journalistic history. From Belgium we have grown with offices in the Netherlands, Ireland and more recently also in Luxembourg. We are ambitious and want to become a strong European media player. That is why we’ve opened the doors of our Amsterdam office to welcome a freelance/interim full stack webdeveloper.

Our story, the short version.
Our ICT department, called Technology & Product Studio, allows all brands and products to evolve on a technological level. See it as the engine behind our digital transformation. Originally, we are a printing company but nowadays with a Digital first strategy. During this assignment you will be working closely with our Core Service Development team.

This team is taking care of our REST API’s and generic services, used by many different in-house development teams. With a total of 11 backend developers, 2 full stack developers, a QA engineer and a Scrum Master this team welcomes you with open arms.

• Participate by implementing and managing changes throughout our organization
• Develop high quality solutions by working in an Agile way of working (Scrum/Kaban) combined with some “Lean-Startup” principles.

Skills & Requirements

• At least a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or working experience that is equal to the degree;
• Expert in HTML, CSS and Javascript;
• Experience with React, NodeJS;
• A minimum of 5+ years in professional programming with Python/Django/Django REST framework;
• Experience with developing critical / large scale websites, web services or REST API’s;
• Knowledge and fundamental understanding of operating systems (like unix, linux) and databases (like MySQL,PostgreSQL);

• Knowledge of following technologies is plus;
• Unit test framework,
Elastic Stack, Redis, RabitMQ, XSLT, XML, JSON, Perl and Shell scripting.
• Strategic and analytical thinker with flexibility in choice of technology and able to switch between languages and technologies.
• Team player, who is used to perform in an agile / scrum environment.
• Proficient English speaker, both written and verbal.
• Dutch Based
